…all celebrated in World Book Day!
On Thursday 3rd March, nursery staff and children took part in celebrating 25 years of World Book Day and all our staff and children came dressed as their favourite book characters. The children wore some amazing costumes; we had Gruffalo, Zog, Peter Rabbit, superheroes and princesses all come along to enjoy books.
The day was spent reading and listening to stories, as well as getting messy and enjoying lots of fun activities, bringing books to life!
There was lots going on! There was a little tiger story, a bear hunt, three little pigs went to play and build their homes and a princess shared her favourite book.
All staff also got involved throughout the week, sharing their World Book Day moments. Chairman, Andy Morris, at Family First Nurseries shared his World Book Day moment with his granddaughter Ada.
Sharing a book and enjoying time together, even just for a few moments, helps to build our emotional bond, there is nobody else in that moment, just us. I love reading to my granddaughter Ada, seeing her smile and react to my voice is very special to me, it’s a loving moment in time for us both, memories that I will cherish forever.

There are so many reasons why reading a book, storytelling and inspiring children to imagine is so important in helping children develop and grow! At Family First we encourage children to develop the skills they need to become successful readers, we provide reading resources and activities to build on language development, communication and promote learning and understanding the world. Taking part in World Book Day is fantastic and allows us to bring this all together, for a special event that celebrates books!
