At our nursery school, every week is filled with exciting baby sensory activities designed to engage and delight our little ones. Here’s a glimpse into the sensory adventures our babies experienced this week.
Edible Paint Exploration
In the baby room, we kicked off the week with a messy and marvellous “Edible Paint” activity. Using a mix of Greek yogurt and food colouring, our babies indulged their senses of touch, taste, and smell as they explored painting with a variety of tools. This sensory play not only boosted their confidence and hand-eye coordination but also fostered turn-taking skills.
Sensory Walk in the Garden
Out in the garden, our babies embarked on a sensory walk, feeling different textures beneath their toes. Guided by our nursery practitioners, they discovered new ways to explore textures and sensations, all while enjoying the fresh air and greenery around them. Check out the captivating video of our little ones immersed in a sensory wonderland on our nursery school’s Facebook page.
Foil Sensory Play
With foil as our canvas, our babies engaged in sensory exploration, listening to the sounds and feeling the textures as they crawled and walked. This activity will help develop babies gross and fine motor skills while encouraging curiosity and exploration.
Mark Making in the Garden
In the Monti’s group, babies practiced mark making in the garden, using watery paints to write their initials and create different shapes. This activity promotes hand-eye coordination and boosts confidence in emerging writing skills.
Discovery Activity with Creepy Crawlies
Exploring the world of creepy crawlies, our babies observed spiders shedding their skins, sparking conversations and prompting curiosity about the natural world around them.
Ice Play with Animals
Cooling off with ice play, our babies pulled themselves up to explore and discover animals hidden in the frozen cubes. This sensory experience provided endless opportunities for exploration and messy play.
Tranquil Baby Sensory Room Exploration
In our sensory room, babies engaged in a variety of calming activities, from playing peek-a-boo with materials to exploring sensory dials and banging on drums. This serene environment offered a safe space for sensory exploration and relaxation.
Black and White Sensory Baskets
With black, white, and red sensory baskets, our babies enjoyed tummy time and reaching for objects, stimulating their visual and motor skills. Exploring sensory bottles and touch-feel books, our babies engaged in tactile experiences, fostering communication, language development, and relationship building with their key persons.
Our sensory baskets, placed at baby level, encouraged independence as babies reached out to explore objects, promoting physical development and autonomy.
At our nursery school, we’re committed to creating enriching sensory experiences that spark curiosity, encourage development, and cultivate a lifelong love for learning in our little ones.
